Fat, oil and grease, commonly abbreviated to ‘FOG’, is an integral consideration for businesses and commercial premises. There are several reasons for this. Firstly, these three runoffs are an unfortunate and unpleasant by-product of food that, if not disposed of properly, can cause unpleasant smells, the buildup of dirt and bacteria, slippery and unsafe working environments, increased risk of fire and a general risk to health. Any fat, oil or grease that is left laying around, quite simply, presents a hazard.
The other issue is that many businesses opt to try and manage or dispose of it themselves. This can take many forms. Some companies store it in barrels in their back yard (unsightly, smelly and flammable) or hire an unreputable company to collect and dispose of it. In this case, it nearly always involves dubious or illegal methods of disposal without the correct documentation. Other companies will simply pour their excess materials down the sink, which is about the worst thing anyone can do. Not only is there no ‘away’ in this scenario (it always has to go somewhere) but over time, fat, oil and grease will harden and clog up the drainage system, which will mean having to call out our drain unblocking experts hera at No1PHD in Portsmouth. Several things can, and often do happen. Firstly, any water from the sink or plumbed in devices will eventually back up and cause either standing water or a flood, which causes lost revenue as businesses have to be shut or partially close to deal with the problem. It also smells and looks bad, turning potential customers away, as nobody wants to buy from a company that cannot keep their house in order.
The worst damage, however, is the one that cannot be seen until it is too late and has become a massive, costly job. More often, standing water is followed by every other business in the vicinity suffering from blocked pipes thanks to the shared plumbing system being clogged and blocked. When this happens, the street nearly always has to be excavated, pipes broken up and either clamped or replaced, and then the street needs to be filled in. This is normally done by the local authority or council and comes with a massive bill attached to it. Neighbouring businesses are also entitled to claim for loss of earnings which is passed on to the business causing the issue in the first place.
Absolutely blown away by the service we received. Took all the stress out of losing our heating and hot water. Highly recommended!

After noticing that the house was unusually cold, we found that the heating wasn’t coming on and that our hot water had also failed. We called the team at No 1 PHD who dispatched an engineer to investigate. After discovering that the culprit was a faulty boiler part, they ordered in a new part and got it fitted as quickly as possible. The guys were great, and we couldn’t be happier.
For days, we’ve noticed a foul smell coming from outside and a gurgling sound coming from one of the drains. Whenever it would rain, the area around it would flood slightly and take ages to drain. We tried buying drain unblockers, but none seemed effective. Eventually, we turned to No 1 PHD and were left wondering why we didn’t do this sooner.
