A slow-moving drain is an annoyance but a fully clogged drain is a disaster. When the water starts backing up there is the potential for flooding and significant damage to your home and this is why our Portsmouth-based team of Drainage Experts is available for emergency callouts 24-hours a day. We understand that sometimes you simply cannot wait and once we arrive on the scene we will do everything in our power to fix the issue so you can go back to normal.
There are three major types of warning sign that show your drains have a problem. If you see any of these categories it is cause for concern and you should call our Portsmouth drainage experts sooner rather than later on; 01425 208031. When there are two or more types of sign then it is time to shut your water off, stop using your appliances and call us right away before your home is accidentally flooded.
Sometimes you notice that water is draining unusually slowly from your sinks, shower, bath or toilets. Slowly draining water indicates a problem and the way in which it drains indicates where the problem lies.
If the water is draining slowly from a single sink or appliance then one of the nearby pipes has become at least partially blocked. A more severe case occurs when attempting to drain one appliance causes water to appear elsewhere. For example, running your bathroom sink could cause the water in your toilet to rise or water to come out of your bathtub plug hole. This means that the blockage has occurred further down making it harder to reach.
Your pipes should be relatively quiet. If flushing the toilet or letting water drain down the sink causes unusual gurgling sounds this means you have something stuck in your pipes and it is creating pockets of air. These pockets of air are moved whenever water rushes past the blockage which causes the strange gurgling sounds.
Even if the rate at which water drains away is normal, strange noises mean that something is stuck in your pipes and it is only a matter of time before something else gets stuck too and makes the blockage worse. Our Portsmouth Plumbing Experts have all the tools that allow them to break up any drain blockages as well as retrieving any larger items to clear the pipes.
A lot of the material that moves through our pipes is organic. This means that if it gets stuck then it has a chance to rot which causes potentially awful smells to come from your drains. The location and intensity of the smell can tell you which pipes are affected. If they all smell faintly bad but similar, then there is a major blockage further down the system and you need to call us right away.
Absolutely blown away by the service we received. Took all the stress out of losing our heating and hot water. Highly recommended!

After noticing that the house was unusually cold, we found that the heating wasn’t coming on and that our hot water had also failed. We called the team at No 1 PHD who dispatched an engineer to investigate. After discovering that the culprit was a faulty boiler part, they ordered in a new part and got it fitted as quickly as possible. The guys were great, and we couldn’t be happier.
For days, we’ve noticed a foul smell coming from outside and a gurgling sound coming from one of the drains. Whenever it would rain, the area around it would flood slightly and take ages to drain. We tried buying drain unblockers, but none seemed effective. Eventually, we turned to No 1 PHD and were left wondering why we didn’t do this sooner.
