Nobody wants to come home to a cold shower or attempt to do the dishes with cold water. If you find yourself facing hot water problems, contact No1PHD and one of our Portsmouth-based experts can get your water heated up in no time.
It can be easy to take something like hot water for granted. Not just from the point of view of it always being there, but also from the point of view that it’s not that important. It’s not like you can’t survive without hot water, right? Well, that is true, but for anyone who’s been forced to take an ice-cold shower, or clean a greasy frying pan with cold water, you’ll appreciate that the fact you can live without out it doesn’t mean it’s not important. At No1PHD we know it’s important to you. And that makes it essential to us. If you have hot water problems in Portsmouth, get in touch with us, and we’ll cause those problems to become a thing of the past.
This is a difficult question to answer as the cause can vary greatly depending on how your water is heated. The vague, unhelpful answer is that there is a problem with your water heater. If you have an immersion heater system, the immersion heater could be broken, or perhaps is coated in too much scale, preventing it from transmitting heat into the water. If you have a combi-boiler, the boiler itself could be acting up. Other causes, again depending on your system, could be faulty timers or thermostats. The variety of water heating systems available makes it very difficult to diagnose a hot water problem blindly. Fortunately, our Portsmouth-based experts can talk to you about your system and the faults you’re experiencing specifically and make a far more educated diagnosis than this article can.
There aren’t many symptoms of an impending hot water problem to look out for, other than the water not heating properly, that is. It’s worth taking note when this happens, however, because decreased heating capacity can soon lead to no hot water at all. We understand that it can be tempting to put things off, but it’s wise not to ignore this; a developing plumbing or heating problem rarely ever fixes itself, and will typically only ever get worse if left alone. Other things to look out for are unusual noises from boilers, such as banging. It probably goes without saying that this is not a great sign for the health of your boiler. Any symptoms like these, or anything that is giving you causes for concern about your hot water, can be discussed with a No1PHD plumbing and heating expert.

A brief note on making do with no hot water. For the sake of your electricity bill, do not simply rely on your kettle to provide hot water while your water heating system is down and out. Kettle’s are energy-hungry appliances and are intended for heating small amounts of water quickly. If you start using your kettle to fill up your sink for the washing up, or worse, your bath, you’ll be in for a nasty shock when the next utility bill arrives.
Don’t grit your teeth through cold showers, or waste money on doing the washing up with hot water from your kettle. Call NolPHD today on 01425 208031 and talk to one of our experts about your hot water problems.
After noticing that the house was unusually cold, we found that the heating wasn’t coming on and that our hot water had also failed. We called the team at No 1 PHD who dispatched an engineer to investigate. After discovering that the culprit was a faulty boiler part, they ordered in a new part and got it fitted as quickly as possible. The guys were great, and we couldn’t be happier.
For days, we’ve noticed a foul smell coming from outside and a gurgling sound coming from one of the drains. Whenever it would rain, the area around it would flood slightly and take ages to drain. We tried buying drain unblockers, but none seemed effective. Eventually, we turned to No 1 PHD and were left wondering why we didn’t do this sooner.
