Commercial Heating Services

There is a vast difference between a domestic and a commercial heating system. A household merely needs the basics such as a hot water source, radiators and simple electric circuitry. Offices, factories, pubs, shops, warehouses and other commercial enterprises, however, will require a far more intricate network of piping, ducting, temperature controls and automatic timers. For a coordinated and effective installation an experienced, certified and insured team of professional tradesmen is required. At No 1 PHD we have assembled a first-rate group of plumbers, heating engineers and technicians as well as top designers to ensure all our commercial heating services and installations meet and exceed our clients’ expectations in Southampton and throughout Hampshire.

Install and Maintain

Badly installed heating systems, or those in disrepair, will not distribute heat at the required temperature or as it should. Existing heating systems require regular maintenance and repairs which we can schedule for times that are most convenient for you and cause the absolute minimum disruption to your business. For new installations our team of experienced designers and engineers can discuss your precise requirements before evaluating which system best fulfils your needs. Should the unthinkable happen and the system fail our emergency commercial heating service is just a phone call away and available 24/7 to deal with heating system failures in Southampton and across Hampshire.

Optimal Heating System

Installing or maintaining a commercial heating system is a complicated business with many pitfalls for those without the relevant experience. The No 1 PHD heating professionals have this experience in abundance and can quickly determine which type of system is best suited to your business premises or design a maintenance plan to ensure the currently installed system performs to its optimum. Heating systems come in different formats and while one type may be ideal for a small office it would be totally inadequate for the demands of a busy hotel, bar or restaurant. We evaluate every premises before deciding, in conjunction with the client, on which system will deliver the best results for the most reasonable financial outlay.

The Nuts and Bolts

A properly installed and maintained system should maintain the desired temperature in the various areas of a premises and provide hot water as required. Heating systems are based on a pressurised system of heated water or steam from a boiler that circulates throughout the pipework to feed the various radiators and hot water taps. Some systems are simple while others are more intricate but all should only be installed and maintained by qualified tradesmen to ensure an efficient and trouble-free heating and hot water supply. The most common types of commercial heating systems include:

  • Water Heated systems use oil or gas fuelled boilers to heat water which is then circulated through pipes and radiators.
  • Steam Heated Systems are similar to water systems but produce condensed heated steam as a heat source.
  • Heat Pumps extract heat from the air and recirculate it through a system of ducts.
  • HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) Systems use a compressor to produce hot or cold air and also filter out impurities for use in air-conditioning units.
  • Natural Energy Systems include those using solar power, geothermal energy and sustainable resources to produce heat.

Gas and oil based heating systems are decreasing in popularity due to the rising cost of the raw materials and environmental concerns resulting in more clients opting for more environmentally-friendly forms of commercial radiator installations which No 1 PHD can supply and install.

Time to Renew?

It is generally recommended that commercial heating systems should be replaced after fifteen years of service. However, this is a guideline and not law and a well maintained system can last considerably longer. Whether you require maintenance, an upgrade or extension, or a complete re-fit, No 1 PHD can be of assistance. Servicing Southampton and Hampshire, we are your local heating services provider and more than happy to answer any queries you may have. After noticing that the house was unusually cold, we found that the heating wasn’t coming on and that our hot water had also failed. We called the team at No 1 PHD who dispatched an engineer to investigate. After discovering that the culprit was a faulty boiler part, they ordered in a new part and got it fitted as quickly as possible. The guys were great, and we couldn’t be happier.

For days, we’ve noticed a foul smell coming from outside and a gurgling sound coming from one of the drains. Whenever it would rain, the area around it would flood slightly and take ages to drain. We tried buying drain unblockers, but none seemed effective. Eventually, we turned to No 1 PHD and were left wondering why we didn’t do this sooner.
