Here at No1PHD we have a full range of sewer services as well as other drainage services for commercial and residential customers. For example, our highly trained engineers can use CCTV cameras to survey your sewers. Whether you have a problem such as a blockage, or want a map of the sewerage system before starting to build, we can help. Our CCTV team can survey the whole sewer, identify problems and point out areas where some timely maintenance could prevent future problems.
The CCTV survey provides vital information as to what the nature of a blockage is – this can range from fat and grease build-up, to a tree root making its way into the pipe. Read on for information on our other services.
The techniques we use will depend on the cause of the blockage. We have a full range of high-tech equipment that we can use, depending on the best way to clear the block. If you’ve had a CCTV survey, we’ll have detailed information. However, even without this, we have the expertise to diagnose the problem.
Without this kind of knowledge, well-meaning attempts at unblocking your sewer could damage the structure and mean that you have to repair the sewer. But with our years of experience in unblocking sewers in and around Southampton, and our qualified and highly trained staff, you’re in safe hands.
We’re always conscious that businesses don’t want to disrupt Southampton’s traffic, or public, by digging up sewers, and possibly closing roads. Let alone the expense of this kind of procedure. So we’ll try if possible, to carry out a sewer repair in the most cost-effective and least disruptive way.
For example, we may recommend Cured In Place Pipe (CIPP) patch repairing, at which we’re experts. This involves placing a lining into the pipe and inflating it so that it touches the walls. The lining is soaked in resin, which hardens and seals the pipe. This process is far less expensive than digging a trench, excavating the pipe and then repairing it.
Absolutely blown away by the service we received. Took all the stress out of losing our heating and hot water. Highly recommended!

Couldn’t have asked for a faster resolution to our drainage conundrum. Nothing was too much for these guys who were brilliant throughout.

There are a number of regulations around connecting a newly installed sewer to the main sewage network. These regulations recently changed – we’re fully up to date with the latest changes, and able to prepare the relevant permission forms. We’re fully accredited to work installing new sewers and connecting these to the public network in Southampton.
In addition, we can help to design new sewerage installations, and advise on the best solutions in the Southampton area, given our knowledge of the existing infrastructure in the area. New sewage connections have to be certified by the water company, as being a satisfactory installation.
The basis of effective sewer maintenance is good monitoring of the sewer. An initial CCTV survey is a great way to establish a basis for future maintenance. More urgent problems can be addressed before they cause major blocks or leaks. Build-ups of substances such as grease, can be dealt with more economically when they haven’t become hardened and solidified.
As we all know, leakage has become a major concern, especially where waterways are contaminated by wastewater. This can result in a financial liability on the sewer owner or operator. Regular sewer inspection and maintenance mitigates the risk of this kind of financial claim.
After noticing that the house was unusually cold, we found that the heating wasn’t coming on and that our hot water had also failed. We called the team at No 1 PHD who dispatched an engineer to investigate. After discovering that the culprit was a faulty boiler part, they ordered in a new part and got it fitted as quickly as possible. The guys were great, and we couldn’t be happier.
For days, we’ve noticed a foul smell coming from outside and a gurgling sound coming from one of the drains. Whenever it would rain, the area around it would flood slightly and take ages to drain. We tried buying drain unblockers, but none seemed effective. Eventually, we turned to No 1 PHD and were left wondering why we didn’t do this sooner.
