Southampton is a major hub for businesses such as hotels, bars and pubs that have to act quickly on drainage problems. The same is true for public buildings such as schools, hospitals, and shopping centres. Problems such as collapsed drains, can occur at any time of the day or night, and an effective emergency response is crucial. At No1Phd, we have an experienced team of drainage technicians on standby to deal with all drainage emergencies, no matter when they occur.
Businesses and other organisations across Southampton, can rely on our emergency service every day of the year, and every hour in the day. Emergencies have a habit of happening at awkward times, such as Christmas or summer bank holidays. We always have emergency resources available, both in terms of staff, and of specialised vehicles and equipment, to cope with any drainage requirement; or plumbing service for that matter large or small.
Flooding can have a number of causes and cause some problems with your drainage systems. A cause with blocked drains Southampton clients seem to get regularly is when it allows dirty water to back up. This could potentially lead to a business premises becoming flooded or damaged with access water. A storm-damaged downpipe can stop directing rainwater away from the building, so that part of the premises floods. And even with drains and sewers that normally operate without any problem, a severe downpour, or several days of rain, can overwhelm the system and cause a flood.
At No1PHD we can respond effectively across Southampton because we have access to high technology, powerful vacuum tankers that can suck up large quantities of water, and then pump it into storage tanks that can then be driven off, to be emptied where the water will not cause a problem. We hold the relevant Environment Agency license for this work, and you can be assured that the water will be discharged responsibly. We also have smaller pumps for use in more confined areas, or with smaller floods.
Absolutely blown away by the service we received. Took all the stress out of losing our heating and hot water. Highly recommended!

Couldn’t have asked for a faster resolution to our drainage conundrum. Nothing was too much for these guys who were brilliant throughout.

Sometimes sewage can be spilt, either from a damaged sewer pipe, or because of an overflowing sewer. This requires our specialist emergency teams to remove the sewage, then use high pressure water hoses to clean down any roads, pathways, or areas such as car parks or playgrounds, that have been affected.
There are several parts of the drainage system that can get blocked. Hotel guests may put wipes down the WC, which are not soluble, and which clog the sewer and cause a toilet to overflow. Fat and grease may have been building up in a restaurant’s drains for some time, finally causing an overflow.
Any of these problems can mean that a guest has to be moved, or a restaurant has to close. Problems can occur at very busy times, and out of hours, when the normal maintenance team has gone home. We have both the staff and equipment, to resolve these issues quickly, and to give expert advice to building managers or others who are on site at the time.
And if the problem is outside, for example a broken or missing manhole cover, so that a drain is exposed, we can also supply and fit new manhole covers. If the drain itself is in need of rebuilding, we can make a safe temporary repair, until a more permanent repair can be put in place.
At No1PHD, we understand the urgency of your call, and can respond by sending a highly trained, expert team within the Southampton area to investigate, diagnose the problem and take swift remedial action with regards to your drainage problem. After noticing that the house was unusually cold, we found that the heating wasn’t coming on and that our hot water had also failed. We called the team at No 1 PHD who dispatched an engineer to investigate. After discovering that the culprit was a faulty boiler part, they ordered in a new part and got it fitted as quickly as possible. The guys were great, and we couldn’t be happier.
For days, we’ve noticed a foul smell coming from outside and a gurgling sound coming from one of the drains. Whenever it would rain, the area around it would flood slightly and take ages to drain. We tried buying drain unblockers, but none seemed effective. Eventually, we turned to No 1 PHD and were left wondering why we didn’t do this sooner.
