There are many things to consider when having a new boiler installed. Is it the right kind of boiler for your needs? Will it be properly installed, adhering to all the applicable regulations? Is it a quality boiler with a strong warranty and a guarantee of workmanship? For No1PHD, the answer to all of the above is yes. We’ll make sure the boiler we fit is the right boiler for your situation, and all our work is performed to the highest of standards, and per all relevant regulations. All you need to worry about is familiarising yourself with the boiler itself.
There are several different types of boiler, such as electric boilers, combi boilers, and many more. However, the basic premise is the same across these different types. Boilers create heat by burning fuel, most commonly gas. This heat is then transferred to another medium for use in the property, either as a way to warm up the property itself or just for heating water. In the case of a central heating system, the heat would be transferred into water that is then pumped through the radiators around the property to heat the building. In other cases, the heat might be transferred to air that is being blown into an area to heat that space. If you’re unsure which kind of boiler you should be using, our team of Southampton Boiler Installation Experts at No1PHD will be happy to talk you through your options.

Combi boilers are perhaps the most popular kind of boiler used in residential and smaller commercial properties. They are great for smaller spaces because they do not require any water storage; the water is heated as it is needed. This results in hot water taking a moment to arrive when you first turn a hot tap on, but that’s generally considered a trade-off worth making. Especially because there is no limit on the hot water; as long as the boiler is functioning and water is flowing, you will have hot water available. This also leads to better cost efficiency as the boiler only heats water when it is needed.
Though combi boilers are probably the most popular kind of boiler these days, there are other types. System boilers are similar to combi boilers except they produce hot water for storing in an insulated tank (similar to an immersion heater). This has the advantage of being able to produce hot water in multiple locations without affecting the system. However, there is also a limited amount of hot water in the tank before you would need to let it fill up again. Standard boilers can be thought of as system boilers with more capacity. Unfortunately, that added capacity comes at a cost of space; this isn’t a system for a small property. It is compatible with immersion heater systems and solar thermal, however. The boilers mentioned are typically fueled by gas, however, there are also electric boilers (suitable for smaller spaces, such as flats), and oil/solid fuel boilers, which are more common in commercial properties.

After noticing that the house was unusually cold, we found that the heating wasn’t coming on and that our hot water had also failed. We called the team at No 1 PHD who dispatched an engineer to investigate. After discovering that the culprit was a faulty boiler part, they ordered in a new part and got it fitted as quickly as possible. The guys were great, and we couldn’t be happier.
For days, we’ve noticed a foul smell coming from outside and a gurgling sound coming from one of the drains. Whenever it would rain, the area around it would flood slightly and take ages to drain. We tried buying drain unblockers, but none seemed effective. Eventually, we turned to No 1 PHD and were left wondering why we didn’t do this sooner.
