Boiler Replacement

Every home in the United Kingdom needs a boiler. All new builds have boilers built-in and these modern boilers are designed to be replaced after a number of years – usually between ten and fifteen years – in order to keep the family safe and the home beautifully, and efficiently, warm. And that is where No1PHD comes in, ready to install your new boiler and talk you through its functions on a timeframe that is mutually satisfactory for all concerned.

Reasons for Boiler Replacement

Some older homes still have enormous old boilers that were installed many decades ago, when such appliances were intended to last the house’s lifetime. While some of these boilers may still be in good condition, they are almost certainly coming to the end of their useful life, and there are other reasons that you might want to think about a new boiler too.

Why Upgrade To A Modern Boilers?

Modern boilers are designed for greater efficiency, which means that swapping out an older boiler for a new one can start saving you money with every litre of water heated.

  • This is due to the fact that they heat up a little water at a time
  • This process is quicker
  • They are more thoroughly insulated
  • So water stays hot for longer
  • They Use less power to do so
  • They heat the water to your perfect temperature
  • Rather than the much wider ranges that are all that older boilers are capable of reaching.

Modern boilers are more environmentally friendly. Not only do they use less power, but they are designed to be replaceable and are largely made from recyclable materials, unlike the old, enormously heavy old-fashioned boilers. These were largely not able to be recycled due to the use of metals and fuels that have now fallen out of favour.

Don’t worry, No1PHD will dispose of your old boiler and completely clear any mess that comes with this responsibility. No mess and with the least amount of fuss.

Saving You Money

Modern boilers will save you money in the long run. As mentioned above, it is cheaper to run a more efficient boiler, so your energy bills will be reduced. You will also benefit from a space saving: modern boiler installations take up noticeably much less space than their older counterparts, and thus, will use much less room, leaving space for shelves, or a cabinet to be slotted in underneath the new appliance.

A final reason: modern boilers are cheaper to purchase than you might think. In previous decades, a boiler replacement was a lengthy, messy and time consuming job, with the big heavy boiler costing a fortune by itself and delivery costing even more.

No1PHD have a wide range of modern boilers ready to be installed, each suited to the specific needs of different household environments.

What is Involved in a Boiler Replacement?

First you will have to choose which type of boiler you want. There are three types to choose from:

  • Conventional: These boilers have water tanks which fill up with cold water, which is then heated in the boiler before dispersing it to the taps in the kitchen and bathrooms, and to the radiators for the central heating. This is a fairly old-fashioned system and can result in the hot water running out if too many people bath in quick succession, and a lengthy wait for it to refill and reheat.
  • Combi: A combi boiler is more like a ‘heat on demand’ boiler, quickly heating water as it is needed, with no storage tanks to be filled or heated or maintained at heat, with the water flowing through the boiler, going in cold and coming out heated and ready to use from the taps or the radiator.
  • System: Something of a mix between the two previous types, a system boiler boasts a small water storage tank, but has more heating elements built into it. They are easier to install than conventional boilers, and do not take up as much space.

After noticing that the house was unusually cold, we found that the heating wasn’t coming on and that our hot water had also failed. We called the team at No 1 PHD who dispatched an engineer to investigate. After discovering that the culprit was a faulty boiler part, they ordered in a new part and got it fitted as quickly as possible. The guys were great, and we couldn’t be happier.

For days, we’ve noticed a foul smell coming from outside and a gurgling sound coming from one of the drains. Whenever it would rain, the area around it would flood slightly and take ages to drain. We tried buying drain unblockers, but none seemed effective. Eventually, we turned to No 1 PHD and were left wondering why we didn’t do this sooner.
