While No1PHD will attend to your problem with the very most haste, you may still find yourself wanting to do something while you wait for our experts to arrive. First and foremost, ensure that any action you take does not put yourself or anyone else in danger. In the case of most flooding incidents that are the result of a plumbing problem, turning the water supply off could help. It should be a point of importance to know where your property’s stopcock (the main cutoff for your water supply) is located for just such an occasion. If the flooding is severe—or you cannot turn the water supply off—you should consider turning the electricity off also. Finally, if nothing else can be done, you might consider moving any items that are susceptible to water damage away from the affected area. After that, simply wait for your No1PHD drainage professionals to arrive and deal with your problem. But we have to stress, don’t do anything that might put you in danger. Let us take the risks.
The most common type of flooding emergency related to plumbing is a severely broken water pipe. These pipes are constantly under pressure (the amount of pressure varies from region to region), so if they were to break they would shoot water out under that pressure. Though the pressure should never be significant enough to break the skin, it’s still best not to get in the way of any narrow jets of water coming from broken pipes. For a significant break in the pipes, this would be like having a fully open tap running. While age and poor plumbing work can result in minor leaks behind walls and under floorboards, major leaks like the one mentioned above are more typically the result of some kind of impact. Unfortunately, this also means that the affected pipe is more likely to have been in an exposed location where it can spray water over a greater area. If this happens, No1PHD should be called immediately. Water can do a lot of damage if left to its own devices.
Broken pipes aren’t the only kind of plumbing emergency you can rely on No1PHD to fix, however. Here are some other plumbing emergencies;
This list is by no means definitive. If you have a plumbing problem that you consider an emergency, give No1PHD a call and let us take care of it.
