Kitchen Refurbishment

A kitchen is one of the most important functional rooms in a home and it gets put through its paces every day. You need a good kitchen to cook in, to store food in and to eat in if you have a kitchen/diner. Kitchen designs change and evolve with the decades and while units and appliances tend to wear out over time, certain kitchen styles go out of fashion too. This makes the perfect opportunity for kitchen refurbishment, allowing you to get an exceptionally well-fitted kitchen and the look and functionality you’ve always wanted. Also, it’s a chance to choose new appliances for a superb kitchen that will be a pleasure to cook in and spend time in. No1PHD is here to help every step of the way.

Choosing your new kitchen

You might already have an idea of the type of kitchen refurbishment you’d like. If not, we’ll be delighted to inspire you with a wide range of designs. We can visit you to provide a free quote and bring catalogues and pictures from leading kitchen stockists. Furthermore, we can advise which of these will best suit your wants and needs, as well as your available space. Whether you want to go for a sparkling standout design or something more subtle, we can show you designs that meet every taste. With a wide selection of worktops, units, tiling/panelling, flooring and appliances, No1PHD will complete your kitchen refurbishment professionally, on time and on budget.

Planning the refurbishment

You might want to keep your original kitchen configuration with all the appliances and storage cupboards in the same location. In this case, we’ll advise if we can reuse the existing structure of your kitchen and simply fit new facades like cupboard doors, drawers and worktops. New appliances may also be optional, depending on the performance of your existing ones. More often than not, we need to completely strip everything away for a kitchen refurb and start from scratch. In this case, we’ll responsibly dispose of all the old units and appliances and recycle these were possible.

Removing your old kitchen

When we remove an old kitchen, this can mean short-term disruption. However, we work in a very organised and tidy manner and will always mininise any dust, protecting your carpets and clean up as we go along, as well as at the end of every day. Moreover, we will advise you what kitchen facilities you can continue to use while we work on the job and give you an accurate schedule for the refurbishment so you can plan your domestic life around our work.

Fitting your new kitchen

Once you’ve chosen your new kitchen and appliances, we’ll help to organise the delivery of these and take care of unboxing and unwrapping, disposing of the leftover packaging. We’ll coordinate with deliveries to make sure we get everything into a window in line with our schedule. Then, we’ll fit your kitchen and you watch it take shape before your very eyes.

New plumbing and electrics

Sometimes, a kitchen refurbishment requires new plumbing, gas connections and electrics to connect all your fixtures and appliances. This is particularly the case if you’re having a kitchen re-design and moving the location of some of the main features e.g. having the sink in a different place. Some of the common jobs we take on that involve plumbing and electrical works include:

  • Fitting plumbing for a new dishwasher if you haven’t had one before
  • Moving the location of your oven or switching it to a mid-height oven if you’ve previously had a low-down oven or even a free-standing cooker
  • Disconnecting, reconnecting and/or moving heating appliances like radiators
  • Disconnecting and reconnecting the gas hob and/or cooker
  • Plumbing in a fridge if it needs a water supply for dispensing drinking water

We’re fully certified and insured to carry out work on electrics, gas, plumbing and drainage. The standard of our workmanship is second to none. As members of the FSB and ISO certified, you can rely on all our operatives to do an excellent job on your kitchen refurbishment. All our work is guaranteed. Our tradesmen carry ID and are security vetted for working in people’s homes and/or businesses.

After noticing that the house was unusually cold, we found that the heating wasn’t coming on and that our hot water had also failed. We called the team at No 1 PHD who dispatched an engineer to investigate. After discovering that the culprit was a faulty boiler part, they ordered in a new part and got it fitted as quickly as possible. The guys were great, and we couldn’t be happier.

For days, we’ve noticed a foul smell coming from outside and a gurgling sound coming from one of the drains. Whenever it would rain, the area around it would flood slightly and take ages to drain. We tried buying drain unblockers, but none seemed effective. Eventually, we turned to No 1 PHD and were left wondering why we didn’t do this sooner.
